It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why I don’t care for Aphex Twin but on the contrary, BoC is my favorite music act of all time. I’ve heard Autechre, Biosphere,etc. none of them really do the same for me as something like Geogaddi does. I do like Tim Hecker as well as some Casino vs Japan songs like “It’s Very Sunny” because it sounds like BoC. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The hate of the inks used on Season 2 and the absence of discussion of elements of Season 1 have struck a pattern. This division between the level of
seriousness and Truth in Myth.
If you're thinking "who needs more Myth", isn't Myth all around us? Yes it is. Mosques, Churches, Temples can be found on Google Maps rather easily all over the world. Islam is making the news every day, on Reddit and TV. But these Mosques, Churches and Temples do not educate on Deep Myth - they have preserved the
worst of the worst of the Public Dream. The best parts, such as the Gospel of Thomas - have been suppressed and buried. And I believe Nic has gone on record in saying so in his own personal style.
Mythology has a crisis. The crisis is that the only pages of a Myth that photocopy easily are the violence and rules! Be it the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution or it's modern equivalence of
War on Drugs. These are the pages that angry crowds can quickly agree on and blame! Prohibition is Mark 12:31?
And who needs to look further than modern Islam and the two major conflicting groups that account for 99% of the modern interpretations of the Quran. Shia vs. Sunni. You have the Northern Ireland Protestant vs. Catholic game going on with larger numbers and vast geography. But what's fascinating is that all these popular groups, accounting for 99% of the "believers", is that the photocopies of their holy book have degraded with a particular pattern.
It is as if Mythology stories can be written with a color pallet that can not be photocopied by the Gutenberg Press!
Joseph Campbell: "The symbolic field is based on the experiences of people in a particular community, at that particular time and place. Myths are so intimately bound to the culture, time, and place that

If 99% of modern Christians are Catholic or Protestant - where is the 3rd type?
Season 1, Marty asks: "Can I ask you something? You’re Christian, yeah?" - Rust: "No.", "It's a form of meditation", "I contemplate the moment in the garden, the idea of allowing your own crucifixion."
So back to the maths. 99% of Christians today are Catholic or Protestant. 99% of Muslims today are Shia or Sunni. What is Rust? Who are these 1%? And why do the baffle the 99% like Marty so much - who actually thought that the symbol itself was evidence that Rust was
promoting and
believing in Christianity.
Joseph Campbell in 1986: "You know, it's very interesting to think of the history of Christianity.
During the first five centuries, there were lots of Christianities, lots of ways of being Christian. And then, in the period of Theodosius in the fourth century, the only religion allowed in the Roman Empire was the Christian religion, and the only form of Christianity allowed in the Roman Empire was the Christianity of Byzantium's throne. The vandalism involved in the destruction of the pagan temples of antiquity is hardly matched in world history."
Well, that was 1986 he said this. And I think ISIS and many groups of Islam are trying to break that destruction record by year 2030!
"Nic" Pizzolatto has started to paint his stories using the colors that previously were absent in the photocopies of the Myth stories. And these colors burn, like Tabasco sauce in the eyes or on the penis! Because people say these are not Myth - no, they are TV Tropes and they are to Entertain Me!
What colors are missing from the modern copies of the Myths? Well, turn on your television and tune it to the Levant World news and pour some of that Tabasco sauce into your ear! (Campbell) "Mythology is the song. It is the song of the imagination, inspired by the energies of the body."
And you listen to four people:
- The news Reporter, a kind of Actor who reads scripts
- The writer who is rarely seen, authoring those scripts
- The news about Shia person
- The news about Sunni person
Now let's talk about what is being said in the news reporting:
-- News script: "Today 2 guys exploded a bomb and killed 17 of their neighbors in Damascus". "Analyst blame this on Flag Group A's dispute over Geographic Land Location Y".
That same logical analyst words could be applied to inner city gangs, or profit-seeking drug gangs in Mexico. But gangs don't have a Quran Myth, do they? Now what would be the Truth in the News:
-- News script: "Today 2 guys exploded a bomb and killed 17 of their neighbors in Damascus". "Analyst blame this on removing the pages of the Quran book that say: Love your Neighbor, and the first verse of the Quran that says wait for Judgement Day for Jesus, and not you, to judge your neighbors".
Violence sells, sex sells, it's the selling that's gong on. ISIS is selling to the people of the Levant and the news reporters are selling to the people of North America. Remember, Newspaper reporter is a key element to Season 2 story - and at the end with Antigone and child. And Paul's Truth of what sells beauty and lies (actress reckless driving); and his fear of the Truth of how outsiders behave toward his inward Truth. Ego lies sell!
Joseph Campbell: You can address anything as a "thou," and if you do it, you can feel the change in your own psychology. The ego that sees a "thou" is not the same ego that sees an "it." And when you go to war with people, the problem of the newspapers is to turn those people into "its."
Is it really that hard to see when you pour the Truth of Tabasco Sauce into your eye? When do you hear people saying that the problem in the Levant is that they don't Love each other enough? When do you hear that about Catholic vs. Protestants in Northern Ireland? Instead, you hear constant repetition (missing airplanes) about politics and geography! This is not Truth, this is repeating the lowest message - advertising education systems (Edward Bernays).
One of the beating hearts in True Detective Season 2 is the Rodney King story - and his ghetto-level lingo, that is a faded echo, of words of an earlier black man named King:
"The great problem facing modern man is that, that the means by which we live have outdistanced the spiritual ends for which we live. So we find ourselves caught in a messed-up world. The problem is with man himself and man's soul. We haven't learned how to be just and honest and kind and true and loving. And that is the basis of our problem. The real problem is that through our scientific genius we've made of the world a neighborhood, but through our moral and spiritual genius we've failed to make of it a brotherhood." - Martin Luther King Jr, Rediscovering Lost Values, Sermon delivered at Detroit's Second Baptist Church (28 February 1954).
Rustin Cohle: It's all One ghetto man, giant gutter in outer space. - One Pale Blue Dot - which is what connects Rodney King to MLK Jr. It has a particular paint color that is absent in the photocopying of Myth. The City of Vinci is Rusts' words Geographically Personified. But really it's the Whole World, as Rust said. It's one Myth, poorly Xeroxed.
In Japan in World War 2 - did the Japanese use their Buddha and Shinto religions to inspire peace and love? Nope. They used the teachings about obedience and organized it... but here it comes - they removed the colors about Love and Compassion! The same pages that ISIS is removing today from the Quran!
Campbell: I once heard a lecture by a wonderful old Zen philosopher, Dr. D. T. Suzuki. He stood up with his hands slowly rubbing his sides and said, "God against man. Man against God. Man against nature. Nature against man. Nature against God. God against nature -- very funny religion!"
"God against man. Man against God. Man against nature. Nature against man. Nature against God. God against nature -- very funny religion!" - there you go, Season 2 of True Detective! A Church in Ruins! Dead Myth.
Now why would people remove Love and Compassion from their cultural Mythology books? Why remove the best parts? Well, I've answered that. Tabasco in the ear and Tabasco in the eye! People remove these pages out of practicality. They are too difficult to teach and instruct. They burn. They can't be easily mechanically reproduced.
- Why did Frank's father remove them from Frank's youth? Too painful to overcome his ego and teach Love and Compassion.
- Why did Paul's mother choose to treat her son as an Object and not Love? She loves Slot Machines, not people. Too painful to overcome her ego and teach Love and Compassion.
- Why did Ray's Father talk about how much simpler and easier is to teach Society the way "Old Police" did in Rodney King times. Because it's too painful to teach Love and Compassion at Hollywood's Police Academy (Matthew 5:44)!
- Ani's father, Elliot, is teaching Love and Compassion - but the corrupt religion teaches the people to conquest nature - and they come to the woods and conquest Ani as a child.
So our heroes are left with a world where all the teachers are corrupted. Where Truth goes unnoticed and people are highly confident in their interpretations. That was Dante's world (as explained by Campbell). They must learn on their own, abandoned and damaged by the previous generations. Campbell: "There is a kind of secondary hero to revitalize the tradition. This hero reinterprets the tradition and makes it valid as a living experience today instead of a lot of outdated cliches. This has to be done with all traditions." (as did Dante and as does Nic)
Let's talk about a story about two men, written by someone Joseph Campbell knows very well: James Joyce. Now this story takes place in Dublin. At the center of the Catholic vs. Protestant fighting over Mythology interpretation! But both sides of the argument are wrong! The absence of Love and Compassion, a spiritual wasteland Dublin... where religion has been photocopied poorly. And the Myth of Troubadour Marriage has also been photocopied poorly from central Europe.
Campbell: "He is there to evoke compassion and thus bring a dead wasteland to life. There is a mystical notion there of the spiritual function of suffering in this world. The one who suffers is, as it were, the Christ, come before us to evoke the one thing that turns the human beast of prey into a valid human being. That one thing is compassion. This is the theme that James Joyce takes over and develops in Ulysses -- the awakening of his hero, Stephen Dedalus, to manhood through a shared compassion with Leopold Bloom. That was the awakening of his heart to love and the opening of the way."
Now ponder that description, and ponder what Rust says at the end to Marty at the end of True Detective Season 1. All that stuff about deep inner parts of the human spirit and soul.. And the darkness vs. light? These are the colors that can not be photocopied in Mythology. The pages that 99% of "believers" - Catholic vs. Protestant act out - that is absent of those pesky difficult pages. Romans 11:32, Matthew 5:44, Luke 6:27-36, Matthew 18:22 etc. It becomes pretty obvious the pages of the Bible that the Northern Irish were listen to - and the ones they were ignoring. Break out your Quran and listen to ISIS - and start highlighting all the pages they won't mention. A Silhouette will start to form over the Quran in what the teachers do not teach. And notice how Nic uses Silhouette at the opening (Title sequence) of True Detective?
It seems that The Dark Side can be turned into a Factory of the Empire. But the Light Side can not be photocopied and taught in square buildings (Mosques, Temples, Churches). But can they be thought on HBO from outer space? I say - YES - with the right Tabasco Sauce in the ear and eyes! And maybe Silhouette!

And these are the colors that Nic is using. You see, this isn't a detective story. This is a story about Love and Compassion. That icky stuff that people get upset at seeing at the public shopping mall - Public Displays of Affection - were a security guard with a gun at the mall is perfectly fine to children and their parents. It's just so much easier to teach Guns and Police Uniforms to children than it is to teach Love. Ani's father articulates this difficulty about his two daughters.
Try explaining that to the marriages and parents in True Detective that apathy is easier than Love. Is it what they crave to hear?
"History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake." (Joyce) - forgiveness is not easy. And who ever said it was easy? Romans 11:32.
Season 1 is nice and kind of charming about it. The Love and Compassion are minor time investments of the story (but major conclusions). Season 2 pours on the missing colors every episode. It draws outside the lines and puts into perspective exactly what is missing from the 99% interpretations of Mythology.
Well, Half + Half get it wrong, 100% of people. But Nic does not... he is painting with all the colors that burn the eyes.

In understanding Nic's motives for telling these stories, I can suggest This Song that describes the kind of Artist that Nic is being. It isn't to entertain or profit. This song came to me, because the cover of True Detective Season 2 sound track almost presents the characters like suits in a card deck. And Frank's casino and his playing cards by himself. When dealing with Mythology, the story is to be interpreted very symbolic - and actors are just playing out a story. Act out the script on your own, inward, don't latch on to the actors and geography too much.
Joseph Campbell: Read myths. They teach you that you can turn inward, and you begin to get the message of the symbols. Read other people's myths, not those of your own religion, because you tend to interpret your own religion in terms of facts -- but if you read the other ones, you begin to get the message. Myth helps you to put your mind in touch with this experience of being alive. It tells you what the experience is. Marriage, for example. What is marriage?
Nic can answer that Professor Campbell! His Vinci Myth tells you what marriage is not - in perfect Silhouette form. Like the Movies: Gone Girl from America and from Iran: جدایی نادر از سیمین - and Nic even shows the positive Troubadour Path with Ani and Ray... and the pleadings from Jordan.
